Tell the Wolves I’m Home, a local Nashville metalcore band just released their debut EP “Ghost”.
I produced, edited, mixed, and mastered this whole album. The band has spent the past couple months writing and figuring out band members and such while we’ve been tracking and organizing the songs. These guys are all my good friends so we got to have a lot of fun while making the record. I spent a lot of time on the mix. It needed to sound agressive, but raw at the same time. Mechanical, but loose. A tough sound to achieve when they are literally opposites but with the help of the band sitting in on the mix sessions along with the beastly guitar tone we got from the re amps, we were able to find a sound that worked perfectly.
The music itself is dark. Its a modern sounding metalcore with a dark edge to it all. The melodies pop but keep a cast of darkness over the choruses. The guitar leads ride the song in just the right way. The rhythms are powerful and aggressive, punching you right in the gut when a nasty breakdown hits. There’s modern production throughout to bring out the full emotion of parts but not overpowering. Its unique but still classic and something that will pump you up at the gym (great to bounce to on a run 😉 ).
I highly recommend checking this album out for anyone who’s into this style of music. We all worked very hard on it and these guys definitely deserve a chance.
The album is now LIVE on iTunes! Pick up your copy today! I got mine 😉

This weekend has been so fun. Exhausting, but definitely one to remember.
I had 2 shows this weekend. One in Janesville, WI and one in Barrington, Illinois. I made the trip from Nashville to my home studio in Wisconsin with my drummer Harrison early last week. We practiced and decided to add my good friend Mike Zahn to the roster on guitar. We learned the songs and practiced religiously before finally adding my buddies Cole Dutcher to DJ and Danny Rose as a stagehand/ percussionist.
The show was ready just in time for Friday and we made sure to leave nothing behind. Even with being super exhausted from traveling, to practicing all day, to running the live sound for all the bands with my father, we made sure to give it all we had and were so happy to be able to make our friends, fans, and family proud.
It was necessary after the last show, of course, to celebrate. So with sparklers, cigars, drinks, and a fire by the river, Mike, Harrison, and I enjoyed the rest of the evening.
Mike insisted on us staying one extra night to go with him to a cigar dinner/ event. He even offered to pay the hefty bill for my ticket as incentive to come. So we decided to go. What we ended up experiencing was so much more than we had expected.
The minute we registered, we were each handed a military bag from Gurkha cigars and a ziplock bag with 20 premium cigars each.
The place was beautiful. Right on the lake. We then found our table, lit up, got some drinks, and enjoyed the sunset over the water. Such a classy setting. Sitting at our table, we got to talk cigars with and meet a few wonderful people and enjoy a fantastic dinner.
The owners of some of the biggest cigar companies in the world had come just for this dinner and we recognized a few. One in particular we both got a picture with; Mr. Jonathan Drew, owner of Drew Estates. I’m a big fan of his cigars so it was great to talk to him. We talked about my music and coming up from Nashville for the shows, he even let me try on some of his jewelry! He also happens to know Mike pretty well so he was excited to hear that he was playing guitar for us.
All in all, this weekend was very eventful and definitely one to remember.
Thank you to everyone involved in any way/ shape/ or form this weekend!
I am playing a hometown show THIS FRIDAY at the Pontiac Convention Center in Janesville, WI.
Be there at 7:30pm to catch my show around 8pm.
WANNA GET IN FREE?!
AS A GIFT FOR READING THIS BLOG, First come, first serve, so if you’re read this and say the code word at the door, “DTF” you will get Free Admission. I have a limited number of free tickets so make sure to be there!
There will be bands playing all day starting at 4pm so feel free to come at any time!
Today I got to experience the red carpet at the CMT Music Awards in Downtown Nashville. It was quite the view standing right alongside where each shiny black SUV, sports car, or limo drops off the celebrities attending the show one by one. John Legend, ZZ Top, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, Dog the Bounty Hunter, and Lionel Richie were just a few to stop by and say hello.
Enjoy what I was able to capture 🙂
Over Memorial Day Weekend, I had gone Kayaking; Not something I do too often but I figured it would be fun to go on a little adventure by myself.
The Kayak itself is super old. It was my dad’s when he was younger that he brought with him to Wisconsin from New Hampshire.
I launched on the side of the road into the Rock River just outside of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin and paddled into a small, connecting river called the Bark River. The banks were so flooded that the water was halfway up the trees. I even paddled over the top of a walking bridge and a few park benches in one area. It was nice to just get away, put aside the technology, and go somewhere in nature completely alone left with nothing but the sounds of the world and my own thoughts – man, what a workout!
I recommend getting out there and doing something active this summer that can exercise the body, mind, AND spirit!
