Friends, fans, and family! I will be playing a FREE show NEXT SATURDAY in Edgerton, Wi at The Edgerton Teen Center with my good friends Versus Me and CHALLENGER! along with Colorless Sunrise.

Having produced both Challenger! and Versus Me, this show is an honor to be a part of. This will be Versus Me’s very first public show, so DEFINITELY not something you want to miss, along with a chance to stock up on their first set of t-shirts and other merch, as well as a pre order for the album. Trust me, you need to get on that. Challenger! will be bringing you the very best of his studio albums and will be tearin’ it up like always! Sick :(

Posted by on Jul 23, 2014

These past couple weeks have been absolutely miserable due to being sick.

As many of you know I had to cancel both of my shows at the Jefferson County fair in Wisconsin the other week. This is something I would NEVER do but was unable to even vocalize on both days of the performance.

The band and I had practiced for weeks, planned for months, and were SO excited to be taking the stage. Being unable to talk and completely out of it every day til the day of the performance, I still went through the motions at practice just in case I was able to get my voice back. Unfortunately, I was unable. The guys as well as myself were crushed to have to forfeit the shows.

It started with a sore throat, nothing too harsh. Later that night a fever kicked in and I began to act, “not myself”. The next few nights were complete hell. I had a high fever and was tossing and turning in pain. I was sweating nonstop while shivering, muscles cramping, I was dizzy and disoriented every time I tried to stand up or move. The next morning I woke up mid sleep from not being able to breathe because my tonsils were so swollen. My throat was red and white and I had all I could do to swallow a sip of water without going through the roof. I went to urgent care to get better for the shows and they were confident I could get better by the time of the performance. Over the next couple days it just got worse and on the day of the show I lost my voice entirely. I went to the ER and when I asked if there was ANYTHING that can be done. The doctor laughed and told me the shows are absolutely NOT happening. According to the ER I had a “raging, shit case of tonsillitis”.

Even though I was unable to perform, I still have had the best support from my fans, friends, and family and I’m so thankful for that. I guess I just owe Wisconsin a show ;).

Stay Strange and STAY HEALTHY!

– Josh

A special thanks to David Diestler and the Jefferson County Fair for being awesome.

King Me

Posted by on Jul 2, 2014

So this week I decided to get a new tattoo… *drum roll* … of a crown on my finger!

While driving home from a day of sightseeing in Nashville, I realized I have yet to get a tattoo from the one and only Matt Wolf, one of Nashville’s most talented and well known tattoo artists. With no planning or intentions of getting a tattoo, I literally called to find out his availability on the drive home.

“Hey is Matt Wolf available?”

“This is.”

“Oh, hey! Would you be able to do a finger tattoo sometime today or tomorrow? I know its last minute…”

“Sure come on in, we can do it right now.”

“Awesome! See ya in a few!”

aaaaaannnndddd BAM. I knew it was meant to be!

When I came to the shop we discussed the idea and he drew up an awesome idea. As he started tattooing I noticed how much attention to detail and care he put into the tattoo to make it just perfect. He went over it several times, checked it constantly, and went into it to add detail and shading even though there was barely any room to work with considering the size. After seeing how beautiful it looked I asked him to touch up the diamond and see if he could make it more like the crown. He went into it no problem, putting just as much care into it as he did the crown. After adding shading (which the original tattoo artist said was too small to do) i looked at the pair and was blown away. I couldn’t be happier with the end result.

The crown to me represents something very important. I am always on the move, always on the go, and people are always trying to tell me where to live and how location will make all the difference for me.  At this point in my life with so many opportunities pulling me in different directions, I wanted something to remind myself that no matter where I go, I am the one who has the power to make myself successful and happy, nothing else. I am in charge and reign over myself and no matter where I am in the world, ultimately it is ME who can make anything happen. Now I will always wear my crown and carry the responsibility to be the best that I can be, anywhere I am, at all times. No excuses.

… and here’s a pic of me rocking the new tats on the ride home!

Never Give Up.
